Abstract
A survey of current approaches to the famous additivity/multiplicativity problem in quantum information theory is given. A direct proof of the additivity of the minimum output entropy for a particularly interesting quantum channel which breaks the multiplicativity conjecture is suggested.
The proof relies heavily upon certain concavity properties of the output entropy which are of independent interest.
