Abstract
Positive operator valued measures (POVM) are a natural generalization of usual quantum observables (spectral measure or PVM).
Physical motivations suggest to consider those POVM covariant with respect to a symmetry group G. It is of some interest, given a unitary representation U of G, to classify all POVM covariant with respect to U. We give some general results about classification and structure of covariant POVM. We present a deeper analysis of position and momentum observables on R^n and of the corresponding joint observables.
