Marco Bellini is a Senior Researcher at the Istituto Nazionale di Ottica
Applicata - CNR, in Florence. He received his PhD in Physics in 1995 from
the University of Florence. His initial research field involved high-resolution
spectroscopic investigations of atoms and molecules in the Far Infrared
but has later moved to the generation and applications of ultrashort pulses
in the Extreme Ultraviolet by means of high-order laser harmonics. His
main research activity today is in the field of experimental Quantum Optics
where he is currently interested in the generation and tomographic analysis
of novel quantum states of light. He is co-author of more than 75 papers
in top international scientific journals.

Abstract |
|
|
I will present some of the recent experiments performed in
Florence and concerning the generation and measurement of quantum states
of light. In particular, I will focus on the remote coherent delocalization
of a single photon onto distinct temporal modes and on the time-domain homodyne
detection of the resulting field. The tomographic reconstruction of the
density matrix and of the Wigner function of the state has allowed us to
experimentally quantify its entanglement and to test a novel tomographic
approach to the violation of Bell’s inequalities. |
